Survey of Parents of Students with Disabilities

Pennsylvania's State Performance Plan requirements under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004 include collecting and reporting data on the involvement of families in special education programs.  Specifically, states must report annually to the United States Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs and the public on State Performance Plan Indicator 8 which is:  "Percent of parents with a child receiving special education services who report that schools facilitated parent involvement as a means of improving services and results for children with disabilities."


NOTICE OF INTENT TO ADOPT FINAL 2014-2015 BUDGET

MARPLE NEWTOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT
BUDGET ADOPTION

The Marple Newtown Board School of Directors, in conformance with Pennsylvania Special Session Act 1 of 2006, hereby gives notice that the proposed final general fund budget for Fiscal Year 2014-2015, in the amount of $73,400,000, was adopted by the Board on April 22,, 2014 and is available for public inspection. The Board is scheduled to review and adopt said final budget at the regular Board of Directors meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. prevailing time, in the Board Room, on the second floor of the District Administration Building, located at 38 Medial Line Road, Newtown Square, Pa. 19073. The budget is available for inspection at in the district’s Administration Building, Suite 210, Monday through Friday 8:00am until 4:00pm, and by accessing the district’s website at www.mnsd.org. The budget may be amended before final adoption.

Collin VanSon named a National Merit Finalist

Congratulations to MNHS student Collin VanSon who was named a National Merit Finalist. He will now advance to the National Merit Scholarship competition where $35 million in college scholarships will be awarded this spring. 

Of the 1.5 million entrants, some 50,000 with the highest PSAT/NMSQT® Selection Index scores (critical reading + mathematics + writing skills scores) qualify for recognition in the National Merit®Scholarship Program. Collin is 1 of the 15,000 chosen as finalist.

PHMS - Best in State winner in the 2014 Verizon Innovative App Challenge

Congratulations Paxon Hollow MS!  The team is a Best in State winner in the 2014 Verizon Innovative App Challenge. Their app concept earned top points in PA for its creativity, innovative design, and application of STEM principles to the development process.
